The McKinsey Podcast aims to help makes sense out of the world’s toughest business challenges. Each episode features top McKinsey leaders in conversation about the firm’s leading thought pieces about strategy, technology, leadership, operations, organization and the role of business in society. All of McKinsey’s reports are rigorously researched, and the podcast brings the written word to life with vigorous discussions of issues top-of-mind for businesses of all sizes. In spite of having to change our coverage quickly during the past year due to the war in Ukraine, our small but mighty podcast team responded quickly with the episode, "The rising risk of a global food crisis" (April 19, 2022) (https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/agriculture/our-insights/the-rising-risk-of-a-global-food-crisis ). The conversation focuses on the converging disruptions that sent food prices soaring—and how Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, one of the world’s six breadbasket regions, risked tilting the food system into a global food supply crisis. It attracted higher-than-average audience levels. Our podcast interview with one of McKinsey’s key leaders, on the humanitarian and economic impact due to the ongoing war and uncertainty in Ukraine ("The rising toll of the war in Ukraine," March 30, 2022, https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/strategy-and-corporate-finance/our-insights/the-rising-toll-of-the-war-in-ukraine ), drew high audience levels. Meanwhile, our podcast episode "IoT comes of age" (March 7, 2022) (https://www.mckinsey.com/capabilities/quantumblack/our-insights/iot-comes-of-age ) addresses how too often organizations are not using IoT to its best advantage, in large part driven by the perception that the Internet of Things is a siloed, technical process, opposed to one that's holistic. It became the most downloaded and shared content during the week that episode came out. As such, that podcast episode also received a greater number of listens on various podcast platforms.
